Notice and update to Vessel blockage in the Suez Canal
As you may already know, the Suez Canal passage is currently blocked in both directions by a container ship operated by Evergreen due to strong winds and a sandstorm last early Tuesday March 23.
While there are ongoing efforts to dislodge the vessel from the Suez Canal, the canal authority has reported that there are currently close to two hundred ships that are caught up in the traffic in both directions. While salvage efforts continue, the blockage has caused tailbacks of ships passing through the canal that may jeopardized all scheduled ETA’s, until the canal is free from blockage and is passable. At this point, the Suez Canal Authority and the ship operator have not given any estimated or definitive time to complete the task of freeing the vessel and if the canal will require repairs. We are closely following the situation and we will continue to monitor.
As for your cargos, we are now checking all affected vessels and cargos that are scheduled to transit the Suez Canal. Once identified, we will check with the corresponding carriers their contingency plans and alternative options which we will provide to you once we have the full overview.
We apologize for the inconvenience this incident may cause to your business. Your supply chain is of the utmost concern to us and we will continue to keep you informed of all developments.
