US East Coast, Gulf Coast and Montreal, Canada Strike – Update 02
Please be informed the strike has been called off as US dockworkers agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement on Thursday October 3, US local time, ending the strike that began Tuesday October 1.
The ILA and USMX have reached a tentative agreement on wages and have agreed to extend the Master Contract until January 15, 2025, to return to the bargaining table to negotiate all other outstanding issues. Effective immediately, all current job actions will cease, and all work covered by the Master Contract will resume.
While both parties have had to give in to the new agreement, the issue of port automation among other minor items are still to be negotiated.
All work covered by the Master Contract will resume effective October 4, 2024, according to the ILA and USMX joint statement.
