Bangladesh Protest and Internet Shut Down Situation – Update No. 01

Update 01 at 2024.07.22

Dear Customer,

Please be informed that the situation in Bangladesh remains status quo. The country has been under a strict indefinite curfew over the weekend and people were asked to stay at home and avoid gathering in any capacity. Majority of the main roads are largely deserted while sporadic protests remained scattered in various areas of the capital.

The student leaders have not backed down from their protests and have called for a nationwide shutdown today, Monday. The internet remains blocked, and telephones are still not working properly. The communications blackout is restricting the flow of incoming and outgoing information in the country. It has also been reported that television is heavily censored. The situation remains tense and volatile, while government police officials have cracked down on protesters in different areas of the capital and other parts of Bangladesh.

Please note of the MCS/MWL business and operations update in Bangladesh:

MCS/MWL Office Office is closed.
MCS Warehouse Limited operations
Port/Terminal Operations Limited operations

We will continue to monitor the situation and give updates on the latest development.
